Dhaka power company appoints consultant for distribution system

The Dhaka Power Distribution Company Ltd has signed a deal with a consultancy firm today for its Distribution System Expansion and Strengthening Project.
The agreement was inked with a joint venture of Finland's Hifab Oy and Bangladesh's Engineers and Consultants Bangladesh Limited in the presence of State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid at Mukti Hall of Bidyut Bhaban in Dhaka.

As per the deal, the consulting firm will get Tk97 crore as fees. The project worth Tk20,468 crore was approved by Ecnec in 2016.
A loan agreement was signed to finance the project during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visit to China this year.
Another agreement was signed then with China's designated company – Tian Apparatus Electronics Company Limited – for implementation of the project.
While speaking at the programme today, Nasrul Hamid asked the authorities concerned to remove unorganised internet and television cables from the city within a month.
Mohammed Shafiqullah, chairman of Dhaka Power Distribution Company, Nathalie Tranefeldt, regional director of Hifab Oy, and Kazi Kamal Uddin Akram, chairman of Engineers and Consultants Bangladesh Limited, spoke at the programme. Bikash Dewan, managing director of Dhaka Power Distribution Company, presided over the ceremony.
