Dhaka North allows hawkers on footpath time until Eid-ul-Adha, warns of strict action after holidays
Hawker activities on footpaths will be prohibited after Eid as part of the corporation’s efforts
The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has announced that hawkers will be allowed to continue their activities until the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha on humanitarian grounds.
However, the city corporation has warned that strict action will be taken against those who continue occupying roads and footpaths after Eid instead of relocating to the places designated by DNCC.
The announcement was made through a post on the DNCC's Facebook page today (20 May), as part of a public awareness campaign, "Green Dhaka, clean Dhaka", featuring Dhaka North Administrator Mohammad Shafiqul Islam Khan.
According to the campaign message, hawker activities on footpaths will be prohibited after Eid as part of the corporation's efforts to ensure smooth pedestrian movement and reduce traffic congestion in the capital.
