Following the death of another victim, the death toll from the fire incident at a chemical warehouse in Old Dhaka's Armanitola has climbed to five.

The injured Safayet Hossain, 28, succumbed to his burn injuries around 8:45am on Sunday while undergoing treatment at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.

Safayet received 25 percent burn injuries and was on life support at the intensive care unit (ICU), said Partha Sankar Pal, resident surgeon of the institute.

Besides, 19 more people who were burnt in the fire are still undergoing treatment at the hospital, he said.

Earlier, four people were killed and many others were injured, including fire service officials, in the fire that broke out at a chemical warehouse in Old Dhaka's Armanitola.

The fire broke out at the ground floor of a six-storey building named Haji Musa Mansion early Friday and engulfed the entire building.
