Two new pairs of commuter trains will start operating in the Chattogram-Patiya-Dohajari rail route from 7 February.

Railway minister Nurul Islam Sujon will inaugurate the pairs from Dohajari and Potiya 6 February. The trains will be operated with Demu rake.

Assistant Chief Operating Superintendent of Bangladesh Railway (East Zone)  Md Saheb Uddin confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.

Besides, the railway authority has also decided to launch a pair of commuter trains, University Commuter-5 and 6, in the  Chittagong University-Chattogram city route once the academic activities of Chittagong University (CU) start.

The decision was taken after CU teachers and students had urged the Railway Minister for new trains in the university route when he paid a visit there in 2019.

According to Bangladesh Railway East Zone train schedule, 14 shuttle trains and four commuter trains are currently operating from Chattogram to CU route and two pairs of commuter trains are operating in Chattogram-Dohajari route.
