Two Hizb ut-Tahrir men jailed in Chattogram

A Chattogram court sentenced two members of Hizb ut-Tahrir to four years of rigorous imprisonment.
The convicts are Mohammad Simon Alam Chowdhury Saim (26) and Sirajul Islam Rahim (27).
Judge Abdul Halim of the Special Anti-Terrorism Tribunal in Chattogram handed down the verdict in the presence of the accused on Tuesday.
Confirming the matter, state counsel Advocate Manoranjan Das said that the accused were found guilty six witnesses provided testimony during the trial.
The convicts were sent to Chattogram Central Jail following the verdict.
According to the case statement, Saim and Rahim were arrested a week before the 11th parliamentary elections on 24 December 2016. The Chandgaon police also seized posters, leaflets, and books of Hizb ut-Tahrir.
The posters contained various anti-state slogans, including messages that incited the army to seize power.
