Two cases filed against DGHS driver Malek
Two cases have been filed against Abdul Malek, a driver of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), under Arms Act and Special Powers Act today.
Confirming the matter to The Business Standard, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Uttara Division ADC Kamruzzaman Sarder said, "Malek has been produced before a Dhaka court with 14-day remand plea."
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained Malek on Sunday on charges of carrying illegal firearm and trading in fake currency.
According to RAB intelligence, Malek is a third-grade employee of DGHS, who joined a health project at Savar in 1982 as a driver. Later, he joined the transport pool of DGHS in 1986.
He is currently the designated driver for the current DGHS Director General (DG) Dr Abul Bashar Mohammad Khurshid Alam and was also the designated driver for Professor Dr AKM Enayet Hossain, director general of Health Education Directorate.
Malek has multiple houses in the capital, 15 kathas of land at Savar, multiple cars and huge amounts of money in various banks.
