RAB arrested the accused Abul Kalam from the capital’s Rupnagar

An online (shopping) consumer received timber pieces inside 80 mobile boxes, costing him Tk3.5 lakh, said a press release issued by RAB.

RAB recently arrested the accused Abul Kalam from the capital's Rupnagar.

Captain of RAB-4, Additional Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Mohammad Mozammel Haque, informed the press that Kalam ran multiple fake Facebook accounts under different names. He posted an advertisement, offering Samsung A-2 model mobile phones at a lower price than the current market price. The victim ordered 80 phones and paid Tk3.5 lakh.

According to DIG Haque, after the products were delivered, the customer found pieces of timber in the mobile phone boxes.

Abul Kalam, from Patuakhali, has been using social media to engage in these fraudulent activities for quite a while now, and has looted several lakh takas from many people, he added.

A case has been filed against Abul Kalam at the Mirpur Model Police Station.
