Three persons were gunned down in a reported shootout in Rajasthali upazila of Rangamati on Monday.

The incident took place at Balumura Marmapara area under the upazila's Gaindhya union at 3:30pm.

Identities of the deceased could not be learnt yet. A police team was on the way to the scene to recover the bodies, said Mofazzal Hossain, officer-in charge (OC) of Rajasthali police station.

All the three were members of Parbatya Chattogram Jana Sanghati Samiti. The incident took place over an internal feud, according to police. But the Jana Sanghati Samiti could not confirm it.

"We came to know that three members of Jana Sanghati were killed in an intraparty clash," said Alamgir Kabir," superintendent of police of Rangamati.

However, local sources claimed that terrorists killed the Balumura village headman and his son after kidnapping them. The Jana Sanghati has a dominance over the area.
