Man confesses to raping 48 women

In his confessional statement to the Narayanganj Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Kawsar Alam on Tuesday, Rana said that raped at least 48 women in the last eight years

Jasim Uddin Rana's life as a criminal started when he was 15-years-old after he raped a minor. After repeating the same offence multiple times over the next couple of years, he had to run away from his village.

Rana used to live in Patharghata thana under Borguna District with his family. In the four years that he stayed away from his village, matters became even worse because he continued raping more women. He had become a serial rapist.

In his confessional statement to the Narayanganj Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Kawsar Alam on Tuesday, Rana said that raped at least 48 women in the last eight years.

Also in his confession, Rana said that he used fake names and identities to marry two women in the last four years. He has a 2-years-old daughter with his first wife.

Earlier on Tuesday, police arrested Rana from his village in a case filed over the murder of his 19-year old second wife Surovi Akter.

During his confessional statement under clause 162, Rana admitted to murdering his second wife Surovi on March 5 this year and described his eight-year life as a serial rapist to the magistrate.
