A mobile court has fined two owners of Jahanara Enterprise Tk5 lakh for storing and marketing low quality and fake N95 masks.

Sarwar Alam, executive magistrate at the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) headquarter, said they found a large number of masks during a drive at Jahanara Enterprise's office in the capital's Uttara area on Thursday.

The masks were being marketed as N95 masks.

"Fearing shortage of masks in the market, we did not confiscate the masks, but kept some samples," said Sarwar.

Earlier, on Tuesday, the RAB seized 900 coronavirus testing kits during a raid at a building in the capital's Nikunja area.

The kits were imported without any permission from the government.

The law enforcement agency also seized another 300 kits during a separate drive in the Razarbag area in Dhaka on the same day.
