Police giving DU student rape case probe top priority: IGP

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Zabed Patowari today said the police are giving top priority on the investigation of Dhaka University student rape case.
"All units of police are looking for the criminal," he told media after distributing IGP badge in Police Week at Rajarbagh in the capital.
"Some cases can be solved within one hour, while other can take more time," he added.
"What matters is whether we are working with integrity or not," the IGP said further.
The police chief also said CID, PBI visited the crime scene. RAB and other teams also went to the spot. They collected all the evidence they could get and they are being sent to the forensic department.
"Also our Detective Branch team, Counter Terrorism team, RAB, Dhaka Metropolitan Police and other teams are working together. We are hopeful that we will solve the case like the other cases we solved in the past," he added.
The rape victim, a second-year student of Dhaka University, was picked up by an unidentified men after she got down from bus in Kurmitola area in the capital on Sunday afternoon and then was taken to a secret place, where she was raped and tortured.
She is currently under treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
