Not rape, private university girl could die of food poisoning: Forensic doctor

A day after the death of a female student of a private university in Dhaka, forensic doctor said she died from food poisoning, not rape.

"There were no signs of rape on her body. Food poisoning could lead her to death," Selim Reza, the autopsy doctor and head of the forensic department at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital, told Somoy TV on Monday morning.

"We collected samples and sent those to the lab for testing. We will be able to tell the details when the report comes," he added. 
  
Meanwhile, victim's father filed a rape case with the Mohammadpur Police Station of the Tejgaon Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police on Sunday evening, said Officer-in-charge of Mohammadpur Police Station Abdul Latif. 

Besides, two suspected have been remanded over her death. 

Quoting family members the OC said that a friend of the student forcibly made her drunk at a restaurant at Uttara on 28 January and brought her to his Mohammadpur residence, where he raped the girl. 

As the girl fell ill after rape and she was admitted to Anwar Khan Modern Hospital in Dhanmondi, complained victim's family members. 

Later, the girl died on Sunday morning after being treated in the ICU of the hospital for two days.

Meanwhile, Sub-Inspector Mohammad Nazmul of the police station said that the girl's father had come to the police station and filed a rape case.  

Primary interrogation is going on, said the OC. 

The body was sent to the morgue of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
