NGO worker hacked to death in Cox’s Bazar

Locals recovered the body around 8:30 at night from Moricha Guraiardip area

An NGO worker was hacked to death by miscreants at Haldiapalong union in Ukhiya upazila here on Thursday night. 

The deceased was identified as Mazharul Islam of Pirganj Colony Haat in Rangpur.

Manjur Alam, union parishad chairman, said on information locals recovered Mazharul's body around 8:30 at night from Moricha Guraiardip area and took him to Ukhiya Health Complex where doctors declared him dead.

His name and birthplace were known from the identity card he was carrying, locals found some papers of Brac NGO, he added.

Md Abul Mansur, officer-in-charge of Ukhiya Police Station, said the body was sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
