Ayesha Siddiqua Minni, who was sentenced to death in the much-sensationalised Rifat Sharif murder case in Barguna, has been sent to Kashimpur Women's Central Jail.

She was shifted from the Barguna district jail under tight security on Thursday morning, said Barguna jail superintendent Md Anwar Hossain.

He said there was no proper arrangement to keep women prisoners on death row in the Barguna jail. For this reason, Minni has been shifted as per the decision of the higher authorities.

He said five other male prisoners sentenced to death in the case are still in the Barguna district jail.

Earlier on 30 September, the Barguna District and Sessions Judge's Court pronounced the verdict of 10 adult accused in the Rifat Sharif murder case. The court ordered the execution of six accused, including Rifat's wife Minni.

Four other accused in the case were acquitted. Minni has been in the women's condemned cell in the district jail since the verdict.
