A Dhaka court today placed Jubo League leader Khaled Mahmud Bhuiyan on a 10-day remand in two cases filed for possessing illegal weapons and drugs.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Didar Hossain granted the remand after Khaled was produced before the court with a 20-day remand plea, said General Recording Officer Rakibul Hasan.

Earlier on September 18, a team of Rapid Action Battalion detained Khaled Mahmud Bhuiyan, organising secretary of Dhaka City South chapter of Jubo League, from his Gulshan residence over running an illegal casino. 

A total of four cases were filed against Khaled. He was placed on a total of 7-day remand in two cases filed following the crackdown on illegal casinos in Dhaka on September 19.

Three of the cases were filed with Gulshan police station while another with Motijheel police station. The cases were filed under the Arms Act, the Narcotics Control Act and the Money Laundering Prevention Act.

Besides, the RAB filed a case against Khaled with Motijheel police station under the Narcotics Control Act.

Later on September 25, the Detective Branch of Police transferred the case of Khaled to the RAB for a thorough investigation.
