Immigration police, BGB on alert to prevent Shahed from leaving the country

A letter has been sent to the immigration police seeking necessary steps to prevent Regent Hospital Chairman Shahed Karim from leaving the country, after he was sued on charges of issuing fake Covid-19 infection certificates from the hospital.

Benapole Immigration Police and members of the 49th BGB Battalion in Jashore are on high alert after receiving the letter.

The letter from the police said steps should be taken to ensure that he could not leave the country for the sake of a proper investigation into the case filed against him.

Benapole International Checkpost Immigration Officer-in-Charge Ahsan Habib said, "We were informed about the ban on Wednesday evening through the district superintendent of police from the police headquarters after an arrest warrant was issued against Shahed. Extra precautions have been taken at the checkpoints to prevent Shahed from leaving the country."

Jashore 49th BGB Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Selim Reza said "The BGB is keeping a close watch on the border so that no one can cross the border illegally."
