Fraud magistrate arrested in Gulshan

A man, falsely claiming to be an executive magistrate of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), was arrested from a Gulshan restaurant in the city on Tuesday.

The manager of the restaurant held Mohammad Bin Zahir on suspicion as Zahir entered the eatery introducing himself as executive magistrate Sarwar and threatening the manager with mobile court if he did not pay Tk10,000.

Interrogated by police, Zahir confessed that he had been faking as a magistrate for almost a year.

Police seized two smart phones and Tk11,000 from him.

Zahir was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment on charges of fraudulence by the mobile court of DNCC.
