Four Neo-JMB men put on remand

A Dhaka court on Tuesday placed four members of the banned militant outfit Neo-Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) on a two-day remand in a case filed under the Anti-terrorism Act.

The remanded persons are Arif Molla, 28, Elias Hossein alias Mithu, 28, Farhad Ali, 31, and Muntasim Billah, 21.

On Monday, Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested them from the capital's Ramna area.

Imran Hossain, assistant police commissioner of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit, said acting on a tip-off, counterterrorism officials arrested the four and seized several books on Jihad, mobile phone sets from their possession. They gathered in Dhaka as part of their mission to recruit new members in the militant organisation.
