Facebook ID hacker detained from Cumilla

Cyber Security and Crime Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested a Facebook account hacker in a case under Digital Security Act from Cumilla on Wednesday.

The arrestee Md Kawsar Ahmed is also known as Kausin, Zisan, Soleman Khan, Alif, Mukul Das, Kamrul Islam, Sayer Mohammad and Moslem Khan, according to a press release of the crime division.

A social media monitoring team led by Police Super Mishuk Chakma conducted a drive at Shahid Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Hostel in Kotbari upazila of Cumilla and arrested Kawsar.

The team seized two mobile phones, Tk77.78 thousand in Kauser's mobile account and a cash of Tk5 lakh from his possession.
 
He used to hack Facebook accounts by sending phishing links and demanded money from the victims by threatening them of posting vulgar photos, videos and status in the timelines.

Several victims have already sent him money through bKash accounts. 
A female victim filed a case in this connection with Mohammadpur police station in September.

Police found around 200 hacked Facebook accounts, including the plaintiff's one, in the smartphone of the hacker.

Kawsar confessed to his crimes, said the police.
