Eight robbers held in Chattogram

They were arrested from the Sheikh Mujib Road area under Double Mooring police station of the port city

Eight people were arrested from the Sheikh Mujib Road area under Double Mooring police station in Chattogram while preparing for robbery.

The arrest was announced on Friday.

According to the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Double Mooring police station Mohammad Mohsin, a local LG, a cartridge, three steel tip knives, two mini cutters, and eight mobile phones were seized from the arrestees.

The arrestees are Tajul Islam Prakash Taju (36), Tushar Hossain (25), Md Topu (22), Hayat Mahmud Jibon (23), Anwar Hossain Babu (21), Nazmul Islam (28), Abdur Rahman Rana (20), and Johnny Shah (32).

"There are cases against each of them at different police stations. They move around in groups targeting people. And once they settle on a target, they surround the victim to steal wallets and mobile phones," said OC Mohsin.

The ninth member of the robber group Abbas Uddin Prakash (28) was on the run till the filing of this report.
