Doctors confirm DU student was raped

The second-year student of the Dhaka University was picked up and raped from capital's Kurmitola area yesterday

The doctors at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) have found evidence of rape after primary test of the Dhaka University student, who was raped and tortured in capital's Kurmitola area on Sunday.

"We have found injury marks on her hands, legs and neck. We can tell within few days whether she was gang raped or not," said Sohel Mahmud, the head of Forensics at DMCH.

DMCH Director Brigadier General AKM Nasir Uddin said a medical board has been formed for her treatment and counselling as she is traumatised.

"We are doing everything for her complete recovery," he added.

The victim, a second-year student of Dhaka University, was picked up by an unidentified men after she got down from bus in Kurmitola area in the capital on Sunday afternoon and then was taken to a secret place, where she was raped and tortured.

Later, she made it to the Kurmitola General Hospital by herself early today. She was admitted to the Gynaecology ward of Kurmitola General Hospital at around 1am in the morning and then was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
