A joint commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has been transferred after being accused of offering bribe to the DMP chief.

Imam Hossain, who offered bribe to DMP Commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam, has been transferred to Public Order Management Division from logistics.

The transfer order was issued on Tuesday after the DMP commissioner informed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) of the matter on May 30.

The letter said, "Joint Commissioner Imam Hossain is a corrupt officer. There are graft allegations against him in various purchases of DMP."

He requested the IGP to transfer him from the unit.

"The joint commissioner offered the commissioner a percentage from the procurement of the DMP. And, that is why I think, he should not be working in DMP," he added.

Besides, joint commissioner Abdul Malek has been transferred to protection and diplomatic security from POM and Moinul Hoque to logistics from transport.
