Devotees attacked again when a police force went to rescue them

Two policemen were beaten up when they tried to stop an Orosh, a religious gathering to observe someone's death anniversary, in Bogura's Sultanganjpara, to curb the spreading of coronavirus according to the government order on Wednesday night.

The Orosh was arranged at language martyr Gaziul Haque's house to celebrate his father Sirajul Haque Chisti's death anniversary like every year, Somoy TV reports.

Earlier, the police prohibited twice to the mass gathering of male and female devotees. But the organisers did not listen to the directives. Later Upashohor police outpost In-Charge Nannu Khan and Assistant Superintendent Inspector Jahidul Islam went to the spot, where they were confined in a room by the attendees and beaten up.

Devotees attacked again when a police force went to rescue them. Later the force broke in and arrested 22-23 devotees.

Rahul Gazi, son of Gaziul Haque is one of the arrestees. However, Officer-in-Charge of Bogura Police Station Bodiuzzaman denied it saying they have arrested 22 people, but Rahul Gazi is not among them.
