Cocaine worth Tk16cr seized in Ctg, one held

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) on Monday detained a drug trader along with cocaine worth about Tk 16 crore from Halishahar area of Chattogram city.

The detainee, Anwar Hossain, resided in Akbar Shah area of the port city and son of Kamal Hossain of Chhagalnaiya upazila of Feni.

Rab-7 assistant director (media) Mahmudul Hasan Mamun told The Business Standard that tipped off, a team of Rab started anti-narcotics drive in Boropool area on port connecting road in Halishahar on Monday afternoon. The Rab officials detained Anwar who tried to flee the spot sensing the presence of law enforcers. Later they seized cocaine wrapped in paper and Scotch tape after searching the detainee's body.

The market price of the seized cocaine is approximately Tk 16 crore, he added.

Later, a case was filed against Anwar in the Halishahar Police Station and handed him over to the police.
