Four dacoits allegedly involved in a robbery and murder were arrested from Chattogram and Luxmipur area on Sunday by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

The arrestees are Mamunur Rashid, Abul Kalam Azad, Faruk and Aiyub.

Mukta Dor, additional police superintendent of CID, made the announcement during a press briefing at CID headquarters on Monday.

According to CID, a gang robbed a residence in Luxmipur; Monir Hossain, the owner of the house, was subsequently hit on the head, and his wife was hit as well. Monir later died of massive bleeding in hospital.

Monir was the president of local ward Jubo league.

"Raipur police station has been investigating the case, while CID was running a shadow investigation, which was filed by a family member of the victim," said Mukta Dor.

She further said, "CID cracked the case within 10 days of filing it and arrested four of the gang members. We got the names of five individuals who were involved in the incident."

Police recovered Tk two lakh, one bhori gold and a motorbike from the arrestees.
