A mobile court here today sentenced a bird hunter to one-month jail for hunting birds illegally at Bongaj in Ajmiriganj upazila of the district.

The hunter was identified as Hiron Mia, 40, hailed from Poshchimbag village in the upazila.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Motiur Rahman Khan led the drive disguising a hunter in the early hours of today. A few traps were destroyed and captured birds were freed in the sky during the drive.
