The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized contraband items – drugs, arms and explosives – worth Tk79.27 crore in June, the agency said.
The weapons and explosives seized included one pistol, six air-guns, 62 rounds of bullets, 17 magazines and 53 cocktails.
The seized drugs included 1,354,822 yaba pills; 5,784 bottles of foreign liquor; 321 litres of locally made liquor; 361 cans of beer; 34,328 bottles of phensidyl, 1kg of heroin, 243,008 pieces of anegra/senegra tablets, and 1,494,700 pieces of addiction craving tablets.
The BGB said 166 people were accused of drug trading, trafficking and smuggling and another 31 Bangladeshi citizens were detained for illegally crossing the border last year.
