Arman: From hawker to casino king

Have any one thought the man who used to live on hawking at Gulistan and Baitul Mokarram Mosque area will emerge as a casino king?

Maybe, not the "king" himself in his sweetest dream dared to pursue the infamous "feat".

What others could do was being mere expectators when fortune smiled on Enamul Haque Arman, just-expelled Jubo League vice-president and also casino "guru" of Ismail Hossain Samrat, to trigger his rise through the ranks.

Early in the 90s, Arman used to sell different types of handcraft items to maintain his livelihood.

With the profit from the sales, later, he started to import goods from Singapore and Pakistan in luggage.

Thus, he became a "luggage businessman". He made a handsome amount of money from that business. Then, he desired to come into politics, according to intelligence sources. 

What made way for his entrance into politics was his introduction with Khaleda Zia's relative Ikbal Hossain. After that, he started to go to "Hawa Bhaban" frequently.

In that way, he was gradually becoming politically powerful even with no political post. 

With the passage of time, Arman's dominance grew in the "Motijheel Club Para".

In 2008, when the Awami League came to power, he quickly managed to bring himself under the political shelter of Awami League. Soon, he came close to Ismail Hossain Samrat and started working as his cashier.

In the last Jubo League council, he got the post of vice-president.   

Since then, Arman had been involved in different types of crimes like extortion and tender manipulation in different parts of the capital. He allegedly gobbled up crores of taka in this way.

He was the first man who got introduced with the casino business concept from Singapore during the days of his luggage business.

He shared the casino concept with Samrat and then jointly started the casino business in Motijheel sports clubs where betting and gambling had been running since their inceptions.

Even Arman started producing films in recent times. He is the owner of "Desh Bangla Multimedia". On the occasion of last Eid, his production house released a film named "Moner Moto Manush Pailam Na", with Shakib Khan and Bubli in the cast.

Finally, his reign ended when RAB caught him along with Samrat on Sunday morning while they were trying to flee the country through the Cumilla border.
