9 extremists detained in Sylhet
The police have seized mobile phones and administrative documents of their organization from the house
Nine members of banned extremist outfit Allar Dol have been detained from Sylhet.
After conducting a drive to a house in the city's Arambag area in Shahporan Police Station on Wednesday evening, the Counter-Terrorism Unit of the Bangladesh Police detained them, confirmed Sylhet Metropolitan Police Additional Commissioner Paritosh Ghosh at a press conference on Thursday.
The detainees are Manik Akhand from Bogura, Zaheer Uddin Babor from Noakhali, Rasel Ahmed, Kamal Ahmed, Jewel Ahmed and Swapon Ahmed from Sylhet, Abul Kalam Azad from Cumilla, Tomizuddin Sumon from Sunamganj, Ashraful Islam from Rajshahi,
The police have seized mobile phones and administrative documents of their organisation from the house.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of Anti-Terrorism Unit from Dhaka led by Superintendent of Police Mohiduzzaman, conducted the drive, in collaboration with Sylhet Metropolitan Police, said Paritosh Ghosh.
The detainees will be taken to Dhaka, he added.
