Customs officials seized 640 gold bars weighing around 64 kg at the cargo village of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

Based on secret information, a preventive team of Dhaka Customs House took position at different points of the airport, said its assistant commissioner Sulaiman Saif.

He said customs intelligence officials recovered the gold bars, hidden in four wooden boxes, at the cargo village of the airport on Saturday night.

Legal action will be taken as per the Customs Act over the seizure of gold while the importer will also face action, Sulaiman said.
