Police have detained six people in connection with gang-rape of a young woman in a moving bus in Ashulia.

The bus was confiscated shortly after the incident took place late on Friday night, said Ashulia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) Ziaul Haque.

According to a Somoy News report, the victim was travelling to Tongi in a minibus from Nabinagar in Ashulia with an acquaintance. Six people, including the minbus helper, tied up the boy who was with the girl and forcibly gang-raped her.

Later, a patrol team of police on the Dhaka-Aricha highway stopped the bus following the screams of the young woman and caught the suspects.

The injured girl was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.

The woman, hailing from Larmonirhat district, has been living in Narayanganj with her husband as she works in a garment factory there.
