59 ‘doping gang’ members held in Dhaka

The Detective Branch (DB) of Police have arrested 59 members of different doping gangs from different places of the capital.

From Wednesday, the DB police conducted separate drives in different areas of the capital.

During the drives, Detective Wari Division detained 16, Cyber and Special Crime Investigation Division 10, Detective Motijheel Division 9, Detective Ramna Division 8, Detective Lalbagh Division 8, and Detective Tejgaon Division detained 8 people.

Police also seized 240 pieces of Noctin tablets, 4 bottles of Moov spray bottles, 4 Nix Rubbing Balm, 7 power plus herbal pain killers, 5 knives, and some other harmful substances from their possession.

During preliminary interrogation the detainees said that they set up targets in various markets, shopping malls, cattle markets, bus stands at Sadarghat and railway stations across the city ahead of Eid.

The detainees revealed that they invite targeted people to buy food like tea, coffee, juice, coconut water, drinks, cream biscuits mixed with the harmful substances from them. If the targeted person becomes unconscious after consuming the food, they take their belongings and quickly leave the spot.

A case has been filed against them over this.
