5 detained for planning to attack temples, ISKON
Three machetes, three bags and four mobile phones have been seized from them
Five suspected members of banned militant outfit Ansar-al-Islam have been detained from capital's Sabujbagh area Sunday night for planning to attack Hindu temples and other establishments of the community.
The detainees are Md Nizamuddin, Md Rayhan Bhuiyan, Md Hanifuddin Sumon, Sheikh Iftekharul Islam and Mufti Muslimuddin.
"In primary interrogation, they admitted to gather from different parts of country for attacking temples and other structures of International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON)," Illius Sharif, joint police commissioner of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit said in a press briefing today at Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) media centre.
