4 receives bullet injuries in Chattogram clash over graveyard’s land

Four people have sustained bullet injuries in a clash in Abdul Latif Hat area of the city on Friday morning over ownership of a graveyard's land. 

The bullet injured are Abdullah Kaiser, 39, Md Murad, 25, Md Foisal, 28 and Md Masud, 28.

The incident took place in the area of Purbo Bakalia ward around 11:30am over land, said Ruhul Amin, officer-in-charge of Bakalia Police Station. 

According to locals, there had been long standing dispute between local Awami League leader Yakub Ali and people of Moulvi Bari of the area over the land. 

When the people of Moulvi Bari came to the land for hanging a signboard, the supporters of Yakub attacked on them.

The both group equipped with pistols and local arms locked into the fierce clash, leaving 13 people injured including four with bullets. 

On Information, police went to the spot and brought the situation under control.

The injured were admitted at Chattogram Medical College Hospital.

Additional police have been deployed to avoid any untoward situation, added the OC.
