21 brokers held from BRTA office in Ctg

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have detained 21 members of an organised gang of brokers from the local office of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) in Chattogram on Sunday.

They were detained during a drive in the BRTA office in Natunpara area of the port city, said Nurul Absar, assistant director (media) of RAB.

The brokers regularly harass the people who went to this office seeking services, he said.

The gang used to extort money from service recipients through various forms of harassment when they came to register their vehicles and driving license at the BRTA office, the RAB official added.
