Authorities of the Jamia Islamia Younusiya Madrasa in Brahmanbaria expelled its 20 students for their involvement in recent mayhem in the district.

Mufti Shamsul Haque Saraili, education secretary of the madrasa, said that the students were expelled on allegations of attacking and damaging government property on March 26 and for disregarding all the rules and regulations of the madrasa under Section 25 of the admissions conditions.

Earlier on April 5, Maulana Sajidur Rahman, Nayeeb-e Aamir of the recently dissolved central committee of Hefazat-e-Islam, while speaking to reporters at the Brahmanbaria district press club claimed that no Hefazat activist or madrasa student was involved in the incident.
