2 snatchers killed in ‘gunfight’ with DB police in capital

Two snatchers were killed in a 'gunfight' with the Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police in the capital's Khilkhet area on Monday. 

The deceased were identified as Nannu, 45, and Mosharaf, 40. 

Police said the incident took place at Kuratali area of Khilkhet. The bodies of the deceased were recovered from the spot and were sent to the morgue of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Conforming the matter, the officer-in-charge (OC) of Khilkhet Police Station, Borhan Uddin, told The Business Standard that the two were gang members.

The OC claimed that based on secret information, the Detective Branch of police conducted an operation in Khilkhet while the duo were preparing to commit snatch.

The gang members tried to escape when they saw the police. At that time, the two snatchers were killed in a 'gunfight' with the police.
