2 more suspects held over Dr Shah Alam murder

Chattogram Kotwali police arrested two men from Tiger Pass area for their alleged involvement in the murder of Child Specialist Dr Md Shah Alam.

The arrestees are Md Salahuddin, 24, and Md Titu, 25.

Mohammad Mohsin, Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-charge (OC), informed the accused are robbers by profession.

The OC said, confirming the matter to The Business Standard, "We have arrested a total of 11 dacoits and two of them have already confessed their involvement in the murder."

"Besides, other arrestees have also mentioned the two dacoits' names in their confessional statements," he added.

On October 18, police recovered Shah Alam's body from a roadside near Kumira Ghatghor area.

Miscreants stabbed him to death on a running "Laguna" as he refused to give them his belongings at Royel Gate area, while he was on his way to Cherakandi area of the upazila on October 17.

Later the murderers dropped Shah Alam's body near Kumira Ghatghor area and washed the vehicle and knives in the nearest sea beach.

On October 22, Rapid Action Battalion arrested the driver of the vehicle. Later, he gave a confessional statement to the court.

A day later, Nazir Ahmed Sumon alias Kalu, the prime accused in the murder, was killed in a gunfight with the elite force in Bashbariya area of Sitakunda.
