11 public representatives suspended over ‘relief scam’
Since detection of the country’s first coronavirus case, a total of 85 public representatives have been suspended temporarily so far
Local Government Division (LGD) has temporarily suspended four union parishad (UP) chairmen, six UP members and a municipality councillor for their alleged irregularities in cash aid disbursement and relief distribution for destitute people and absence at offices.
The LGD today issued separate notifications to this end, said an official press release.
Since detection of the country's first coronavirus case, a total of 85 public representatives have been suspended temporarily so far.
Of them, 28 UP chairmen, 51 UP members, a zila parishad member, four municipality councillors and one upazila vice-chairman.
