10 arrested in Munshiganj while preparing for robbery
The suspects were arrested last night (12 June) at the confluence of the Dhaleshwari River and the entrance to the Dohori Canal in Mirkadim
Police arrested 10 people while they were allegedly preparing to carry out a robbery in Mirkadim area of Munshiganj Sadar upazila.
The arrested individuals were identified as Saddam Hossain, 38, Borhan Uddin, 28, Md Roman, 23, Tara Mia, 38, Yunus Ali, 38, Ismail Hossain, 27, Abdur Rahman, 27, Sulaiman, 34, Sharif Hossain, 32, and Md Arman, 23.
The suspects were arrested last night (12 June) at the confluence of the Dhaleshwari River and the entrance to the Dohori Canal in Mirkadim, according to a press release issued this evening (13 June) by Md Abdul Mabud, inspector-in-charge of the Muktarpur River Police Outpost.
During the operation, police seized a high-speed engine-powered boat, two sharp machetes, six mobile phones, two torchlights and seven wooden clubs allegedly used in preparation for the robbery.
A case has been filed with Munshiganj Sadar Police Station in connection with the incident.
Inspector Abdul Mabud said two suspected river robbers had earlier been arrested from Laskardi in Gazaria upazila.
"Based on information obtained from those suspects, we arrested these 10 individuals," he added.
