The law ministry on Wednesday issued a gazette notification appointing the three-member team

The government has formed a special prosecution team, headed by Advocate Mosharraf Hossain Kajol, to help dispose of the case filed over the death of Buet student Abrar Fahad quickly.

The law ministry on Wednesday issued a gazette notification, appointing the three-member team.

Two other special public prosecutors are Ehsanul Haque Samaji and Md Abu Abdullah Bhuiyan.

Earlier, the Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 of Dhaka set April 6 for holding a hearing on charge framing in the case.

On March 18, a Dhaka court transferred the case to Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 for a quick disposal.

Earlier on January 21, the same court took into cognisance the charge sheet in the Abrar killing case.

In November 2019, Investigation Officer MD Wahiduzaman of Detective Branch of police pressed charges against 25 Buet students in the case.

On October 7 last year, Abrar Fahad, a second-year student of electrical and electronics engineering department (EEE) of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, was beaten to death by a group of BCL men at the university's Sher-e-Bangla Hall.

Later on November 22, Buet authorities expelled 26 students for their alleged involvement in the much-talked Abrar Fahad murder.
