Shamim’s bodyguards remanded again
RAB arrested the bodyguards during a raid in Dhaka’s Niketan area on September 20
A Dhaka court on Tuesday has allowed police four days to quiz the bodyguards of Golam Kibria Shamim. The seven persons will be grilled for the second time in a money laundering case.
The accused are Delwar Hossain, Murad Hossain, Jahidul Islam, Shahidul Islam, Kamal Hossain, Samsad Hossain and Aminul Islam.
On September 21, they were taken on a four-day remand in an arms case. Later on September 26, a Dhaka court showed them arrested in a money laundering case.
On Tuesday, the investigation officer of the laundering case Abu Sayeed produced them before the court seeking a 10-day remand for each. However, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sadbir Yasir Ahsan Chowdhury granted police four-day to question the accused.
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested the bodyguards and their employer GK Shamim during a raid in Dhaka's Niketan area on September 20.
Around Tk 2 crore in cash and Fixed Deposit Receipt (FDR) of about Tk165 crore were seized in the raid.
Apart from this, the elite force seized illegal firearms, ammunition and drugs from the businessman's office.
