The Appellate Division has upheld a High Court order that stayed the proceedings of four cases against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia filed with Jatrabari and Darussalam police stations in the capital.

A full bench of the Appellate Division, headed by the Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, passed the order on Monday after hearing the state's appeal.

Attorney General Mahbubey Alam stood on behalf of the state today, while Barristers Mahbub Uddin Khokon and Badruddoza Badal appeared for Khaleda Zia.

The cases were filed during January, February and March of 2015 on charges of sabotage during the BNP-led alliance's strike.
