Moudud now has to stand trial in graft case

The Anti-corruption Commission can now proceed with charges of amassing illegal wealth against BNP leader Moudud Ahmed as the Appellate Division Sunday ditched his review petition, the last effort to get the case quashed.
A bench led by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain Sunday (August 25) passed the order.
Barrister Rokonuddin Mahmud represented Moudud while Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan stood for the anti-graft body.
The graft body filed the case against Moudud with the Gulshan Police Station on September 16, 2007 for his alleged hiding of illegal wealth worth Tk 7.38 crore and concealing information about his wealth worth Tk 4.40 crore.
