Majnu confesses to raping DU student

Accused Majnu today confessed to raping the second-year student of Dhaka University at capital's Kurmitola area on January 5.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain recorded his confessional statement and sent him to jail.

Inspector of Detective Branch of police Abu Bakar Siddique produced Majnu before the court and pleaded for to record his confessional statement.

Earlier, on January 9, a Dhaka court placed Majnu, on seven-day remand for police interrogation.

On January 8, the Rapid Action Battalion arrested alleged rapist Majnu based on the description given by the victim and by tracking her mobile phone, which was snatched by the rapist.

The victim, a second-year student of Dhaka University, was picked up by the rapist after she got down from bus in Kurmitola area in the capital on January 5 afternoon and then was taken to a secret place, where she was raped and tortured.
