Chief Justice today also asked the Anti-Corruption Commission to file regular appeal regarding the issue.

The Appellate Division has stayed the bail to the former textile and jute minister Abdul Latif Siddiqui for one week in a graft case.

The Appellate Division bench led by the Chief Justice today also asked the Anti-Corruption Commission to file regular appeal regarding the issue.

On November 7, the Appellate Division set November 11 for the hearing on plea of the anti-graft commission to stay a High Court order of November 4 that granted him 6-month bail to him.

A corruption case was filed against Latif Siddiqui by Anti-Corruption Commission on charges of misusing power and damaging government property.

According to the case statement, on October 27, 2017, Aminul Islam, assistant director of the Anti-Corruption Commission's Bogura district office, filed a case against two people, including Latif Siddiqui, for selling nearly two-and-a-half acres of land without a tender, alleging that this had resulted in a financial loss of Tk40.70 lakh.

Latif Siddiqui, on June 20, appeared in a Bogura court to appeal for bail. The bail, however, was not granted.
