BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia's bail plea in Zia Charitable Trust graft case will be heard in the High Court today.

The bench of Justice Obaidul Hasan and Justice KM Zahirul Haque will hear the plea around 2pm.

The petition was submitted to the concerned branch of the High Court on Tuesday seeking Khaleda's bail for better treatment. Khandaker Mahbub Hossain, one of Khaleda Zia's lawyers, presented the petition to the court on Wednesday.

Khaleda's counsels moved for her bail for the second time as the Appellate Division in December last rejected the previous plea.

Khaleda will go abroad for treatment if she gets bail this time, said her lawyer Joynal Abedin.

"She is critically ill and needs better treatment than what is provided by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University doctors," said Sagir Hossain Leon, another lawyer of the BNP chairperson.
