Rajuk chairman, secretary of housing and establishment and others concerned were asked to submit the explanation within the next four weeks

The High Court on Wednesday asked the authorities concerned to explain why seven plots, allotted to Partex Group Chairman MA Hashem and his six family members in Rajuk Purbachal area of the capital, should not be cancelled.

Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) chairman, secretary of housing and establishment and others concerned were asked to submit the explanation within the next four weeks.

The High Court bench of Justices M Enayetur Rahim and Mustafizur Rahman issued the ruling after a hearing.

Last year, a government official named Bishnopod filed a writ petition challenging the legality of Rajuk not allotting him a plot, despite him being a legitimate applicant.

After a hearing on the petition, the court issued a rule asking the authorities concerned why the plot would not be allotted to the petitioner. During the hearing of that rule on Wednesday, information came out about 70 katha plots allotted to MA Hashem and his family members.

Advocate Baker Uddin Bhuiyan represented the petitioner, while Advocate Imam Hossain stood for RAJUK in the court during the hearing.
