'Form anti-ragging bodies in all educational institutions'

The High Court today directed the government and authorities concerned to form anti-ragging committee in all universities and colleges across the country within three months.
A High Court bench of Justice M Enayatur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman directed and issued the rule after hearing on a writ petition.
Advocate Israt Hasan was the petition lawyer and deputy attorney general Amit Talukder stood for the state.
At the same time, the court asked the respondents to explain why their failure to formulate anti-ragging policy should not be declared illegal.
The home secretary, education secretary and the chairman of University Grants Commission, among others, have been made respondents to the writ.
On November 9, the writ petitioner sent a legal notice to the respondents to take legal action against ragging.
