A case was filed with a local court here on Wednesday against BNP Vice-chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu on charge of issuing death threat to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Advocate Sujit Adhikari, acting general secretary of district unit Awami League, filed the case with the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court at noon.

According to the case statement, Dudu in talk-show at a private television channel on September 16 said the Prime Minister will leave the way her father left, apparently referring to the assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The BNP leader was also sued in a number of other districts on the same charge.
